Nokia Digital Media Awards
Recognises Ever Evolving Digital Landscape
Friday 30th March – Convention Centre, Dublin
Over 600 guests, including the cream of Ireland’s digital media world were out in force last Friday evening (30th March) at the 10th annual Nokia Digital Media Awards. The Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony took place at the Convention Centre, Dublin and was hosted by Après Match Comedian and Entertainer Barry Murphy.
A record number of entries were received this year demonstrating how important the medium of digital has become to all organisations from SME’s, NGO’s and multinationals. The range of categories was extended to 10, a clear reflection of the ever-evolving digital landscape in Ireland.
A real life David vs Goliath example of how the SME market has embraced digital media and experienced major wins is Dublinbusiness Argus Car Hire, who beat off stiff competition from major multinationals by scooping the 2012 Grand Prix accolade. This award is presented to the most highly acclaimed project of the year. Argus Car Hire’s entry “Working Local, Thinking Global” was given the top grade by the esteemed judges across all 25 categories. This was an outstanding achievement and indeed, a significant victory for a company that has wholeheartedly embraced digital media in their marketing strategy. Argus Car Hire also picked up the new award for Best Search Marketing Campaign, for their “Working Local, Thinking Global” Campaign.
One member of the revered adjudication panel remarked “Argus Car Hire was a phenomenal and expansive entry showing impressive growth even in the mature areas of their business.”
Another new addition to the list of awards, Best Digital Marketing Campaign, went to Target McConnells for their Vodafone Cherry Points Campaign and Ogilvy Dublin collected Best New Media Campaign by an Agency for their Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project.
Online food safety management software solution, Safefood 360, ensures food businesses worldwide have access to a best practise enterprise software solution for the management of food safety, so it’s no wonder they collected The Cloud Innovation Award.
The final honor of the night was the Best Agency Award, which was won by OMD, one ofIreland’s leading media agencies. The judges were impressed by the agency’s examples of how brands can lead by being innovative and investing in clever integrated online and offline campaigns and “own” online research for their sector.
Commenting on the awards, Event Manager Tracey Carney said: “I am astonished at the amount of talent which is in the room right now! We have such amazing, world-class digital geniuses here in Ireland and I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ll do next.”
